2026 Co-Commissions
Family Performance Commission
Gravesham Fringe Festival wishes to commission new piece of family focussed performance work for the fringe festival in May/June 26.
The festival is an uncurated event delivered by Gravesham Arts Salon and supported by Gravesham Borough Council and Arts Council England. It is an open call event however there are some areas and genres which are underrepresented and family performance is one of those areas.
We are therefore offering a commission fee of £4000.
There is no set theme for the piece but we would want to see applications that are suitable to be performed to a mixed audience. In addition, we want the work to have benefit to Gravesham residents and visitors in other ways than simply as an audience and so would like you to run at least one free workshop based on your project before the festival, please illustrate this in your application.
All material costs are to be included in the budget which must be realistic, the fringe team will allocate an appropriate venue and the cost of this will not be expected to come out of the commission fee, however it will be ticketed (£5) and the artist (s) will be expected to sell 10 tickets.
Your application must give a detailed description of the work you would like to create, your project management plan and an example of other work that you have been involved in. Proposals will be made anonymous upon submission.

We are keen to see collaboration between artists if appropriate. The festival is an uncurated event delivered by Gravesham Arts Salon and supported by Gravesham Borough Council and Arts Council England. It is an open call event however there are some areas and genres which are under represented and work by young people is one of those areas.
We are offering a commission fee of £4000.
Your project can be from any genre; performance, visual, digital – the choice is yours – but it must be original work not previously performed or exhibited. Please give a detailed description of the work that you wish to create for the fringe festival and how you would manage the project in your application. We want the work to have benefit to Gravesham residents and visitors and so would like you to run at least one free workshop based on your project before the festival. A description of this workshop must be included in the application.
All material costs are to be included in the budget including installation and de-installation. In the case of performance projects the fringe team will allocate an appropriate venue and the cost of this will not be expected to come out of the commission fee, however it will be ticketed (£5) and the artist (s) will be expected to sell 10 tickets.
