Although the fringe festival is an open call, uncurated event Gravesham Arts Salon are keen to ensure that artists from all over the borough are encouraged to be part of the event.
With that aspiration in mind we have developed a series of co-commissions for under-represented artists.
We know that there is a wealth of artistic and creative young talent in Gravesham, however, we are also aware that new work can be extremely labour and time intensive. We would like to enable a young or artists to create a new piece of work for Gravesham Fringe Festival. There is no restriction on theme or genre. The only criteria are that the piece must be ready and suitable to be performed or exhibited at this year’s Fringe Festival between 2 – 11 June 2023.
In addition we would like the successful artist or artists to run at least one performance based workshop in the summer based on the themes of their work.
The total fee is up to £2000
The project proposal must achieve the following objectives:
- Create a high quality, stimulating and inclusive work for all ages to engage with
- To develop creative engagement opportunities
- Be realistic and achievable
- Be resilient to changing environmental factors

Selection:
A selection panel will review submissions and may invite a shortlist to take part in an on-line interview to answer any questions that may arise from the panel.
What to expect if you are selected:
Successful submissions will be informed in writing 90% of agreed funds will be issued and the final payment of 10% will be made once a Funding Evaluation Form has been returned to us. In accepting this offer, you will be agreeing to publicly acknowledge the support of Gravesham Borough Council, Gravesham Arts Salon and Arts Council England by using the logos on all publicity. Additional conditions of funding may apply.
